Hot Honey Meatball Flatbreads
Crisp flatbreads topped with quick turkey meatballs, melty mozzarella, and a swipe of hot honey.
Steps
- 1
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
- 2
In a bowl, mix the turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, salt, black pepper, and oregano until just combined. Form into small meatballs, about 12 total.
- 3
Arrange the meatballs on one side of the sheet pan and bake for 10 minutes.
- 4
Remove the pan, place the flatbreads on the open side, and spread each with marinara. Top with mozzarella and the partially cooked meatballs.
- 5
Drizzle the meatballs lightly with the hot honey, then return the pan to the oven for 8 minutes until the cheese melts and the meatballs are cooked through.
- 6
Finish with more hot honey, basil, or red pepper flakes if using, then slice and serve.
Make it fancy
Kick it up a notch
Optional moves for when you want to impress.
- A little dollop of ricotta on each slice makes the spicy-sweet thing feel even more balanced.
- Use chicken sausage instead of turkey if that is what you already have in the fridge.
- If you want extra color on top, broil the flatbreads for the last minute, but keep an eye on the edges.
- Scatter thin red onion or pickled jalapeños over the top for something sharper and brighter.
